Thursday evening, I ran the Kaiser Permanente 5K Corporate Challenge in Downtown Atlanta. The race started and ended at Turner Field. I ran with my son Michael and some of his co-workers at Porter Novelli, and thousands of others. Talk about jockeying for position! There were a couple of challenging hills, especially near the end of the race. But the weather was great and it was a lot of fun. My goal was to run the whole way and I accomplished that. I improved my time from my first 5K in April by about 30 seconds so that made me feel good. Michael told me later that one of his co-workers was surprised that I looked so fit for a 57 year old man. He had never seen the previous version of me. Michael told him about my health journey and he was even more amazed. It’s a good story if I do say so myself. In December of 2009, I weighed 245 pounds and was about to start another weight loss program. But this time, I was ready, and I had a Health Coach to guide me through the process and hold me accountable. And now, I have lost 85 pounds and have become a runner. Do you believe in miracles? I do.
